Pavilion 15z-cw100
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My wife's laptop a Pavilion 15z-cw100 battery was not lasting long. It suggested replacing the battery. I found the correct part number off the battery and ordered a new one directly from HP. I carefully replaced the battery in the laptop, but it is not charging. I ran the hardware diagnostics (F2 at boot) and it has a failure ID of M8FCXD-9S4AS0-MFPXGK-C6BP03 Blown fuse (42).  It says to replace the battery buts it's brand new. If I run the HP diagnostics inside Windows, it's says the battery is normal. Not sure what to do here. If I can't get a fix how do I return it for a refund?

Hi @Hilonp

Welcome to the HP Community Support forum!

Actually the error code shows that any of the following items could be at fault. AC Adaptor, Battery, Cache Battery Pack, Charger, Power Cord, Power Supply.

I would tend to think that the power adapter has an issue.

If a new power adapter does not resolve the issue then it is the charging circuit on the notebook's system board, and that is essentially game over for the notebook.

Returning the battery is something you will have to discuss directly with HP. We are the Support forum and not HP employees, so we can't be the interface to help you with that.

I am a volunteer forum member. If my suggestion helped you solve your issue, help others by marking that post as the accepted solution. Say thanks by clicking on the Yes button next to the "was this reply helpful?"
