Hi,
For a few weeks now I have had a problem with my battery charging. It will only charge to 12%, the charging icon starts but stops after a few seconds. Before this it would take a full charge. A Windows battery check confirms this.
I have done a HP battery and A/C adaptor check which are ok. I have updated the drivers and BIOS.
I know there is a way that by removing the battery and then reinstalling can sometimes fix the problem but as it's an internal battery I don't really want to go down this route.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Try these steps:
Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.
Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.
Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager:
1) In the search box, type and open “Device Manager”.
2) Expand “Batteries”.
3) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.
4) Click on “Uninstall”.
5) At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver
6) Shutdown the computer.
7) Remove the battery for minute and then put it back in.
😎 When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.
9) Go to Device Manager.
10) Expand Batteries.
11) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.
12) Click "Search automatically for updated driver software"
Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.
Restart the computer
Let me know if this helps.

Hi Betty,
"I have updated the drivers and BIOS." I did the drivers first by going into the Device Manager, Battery and uninstalling them there, turning off the laptop leaving it for a while and then turning it back on again with no luck. Is this what you mean?

Hi Betty/CrazyToad
Well, I don't know what to say, I borrowed another HP Notebook and A/C adaptor. I plugged my adaptor into their Notebook and it worked fine, plugged theirs into mine, no joy. I tried it a few times jiggling the connection still joy. Plugged mine back in and shut it down.
In the morning I switched it on and low and behold fully charged. Checked it a few times and it's still ok. I've jiggled the connection a few times nothing happens so it doesn't seems anything is loose.
A complete mystery.
