OMEN by HP - 15-dc0106tx

I had replaced my laptop battery 6 months ago and haven't faced any issue until today.

First, the charging light was blinking white while the laptop was switched off and the charger unplugged. After I plugged in the charger and turned on the laptop, the battery was not getting detected. Support Assistant showed "no battery" status.

I followed the steps to  uninstall "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and calibrate the battery.

On reboot, now, the following message appears:

"Non-HP battery detected. This might pose health and safety risks."

I'm able to log in to Windows but the battery is not detected any more. Why is the battery suddenly a non-HP after 6 months?

Updating the BIOS is recommended as standard maintenance of the computer. It can also help resolve the following issues:

      • An available BIOS update resolves a specific issue or improves computer performance.
      • The current BIOS does not support a hardware component or a Windows upgrade.

Hi, I’m having the same problem. Have you had any luck?

I’m using an HP Omen 15-dc0051nr laptop and recently replaced the battery with a model in-line with specs. It passed the UEFI HP Diagnostics battery test fine. I have come across several suggestions on these HP forums (listed below), but none of them have been able to clear the “Non-HP battery detected” boot up message.

  1.  Power Reset (holding down power button for 15 sec)
  2.  CMOS Reset (Windows + V keys and Power button)
  3.  BIOS Reset (Windows + B keys and Power button)
  4.  Upgraded Bios to current F.18 version.
  5.  Deleted Battery driver “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” in Device Manager, rebooted and let   Windows Reinstall default.
  6.  Tested battery (Passed).
  7.  Calibrated battery using HP Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) in the BIOS. This is a very long process which requires the discharge and recharge of battery and can take around 6 hours.

The only thing I can think to do is attempt another battery calibration. I’m sure replacing laptop battery is very common and most batteries out there are certified OEM models so it’s quite puzzling 40 min. of searching online still doesn’t produce a straight-forward, solid solution.
