Over the last 2.5 years I have had constant problems with my hp spectre laptop.
I have been solving a swollen battery problem for over 2 months now.
The only authorized service provider in 500 km radius (according to hp support page) offered me a new battery - SU06084 with 3.64Ah for 150 €.
However, my original battery was L29048-271 with 7.06Ah.
So I decided to refuse their offer and tried to find unoriginal battery. I ordered MBXHP-BA0246 with 7.15Ah for half the price.
Before the battery came (circa month), I was using my laptop without battery, old battery was swollen too much, it had to go out.
Note: During waiting for a new battery, I updated BIOS, so when I was updating there was no battery connected to the PC.
After inserting the new battery, the problems started.
BIOS nor OS (Im running dual boot of Linux Fedora 36 and Win 10) could not detect new battery.
After ~5 hours of PC working properly, the new battery discharged completely, even with power cord attached to it.
My guess is that battery didnt charge. What I dont get is why I cannot boot computer with both battery and power cord connected.
I tried to connect the old swollen battery and I was able to boot computer with it connected to motherboard,
but neither BIOS nor OS detected it (the original battery which came from the manufacturer).
I tried resetting BIOS security settings, and restored all BIOS settings to default.
I contacted my battery supplier and asked for help, they sent me to a service provider and the guy there tried everything I already tried.
Then he tried to boot the PC with just the power cord connected and only connected the battery while computer was running.
(After asking him if it is dangerous for motherboard, he said that it is not something he would normally do.).
After a while (time for battery to charge) he disconnected power cord and pc immediately turned off.
What I know so far:
Old battery works, charges and discharges, but neither BIOS nor OS can detect it.
New battery doesnt work, it seems like it is not charging and somehow confusing the motherboard, and thus it does not use the power from adapter.
Anyway, I am not able to turn on computer using new battery. (Or at least this is what I assume)
So I contacted my battery supplier and asked them to send me new battery. They provided me with another unoriginal battery, CS-HPU006NB with 7.15Ah.
Now with the second battery I am starting to realize, there might be another underlying problem with my pc, or I am doing something wrong.

The S.M.A.R.T. battery communicates with the notebook's firmware and the OS has two way communication with the battery via the SMBus, ACPI and APM subsystems.
You might consider reinstalling the notebook's chipset drivers.
Uninstalling the ACPI device in the Device Manager could also be something to try. You can right click any devive in the Device manager and select "scan for hardware changes" to reinstall the ACPI driver
I will edit this shortly and provide a link to the HP portal for software and drivers for your notebook Done!

Thanks for your fast reply.
Unfortunately what u are suggesting is to reinstall drivers for windows, but I dont think this will help as I cannot detect battery even in BIOS - which is weird.
I also have kind of a problem with booting windows (it just freezes without any feedback what is wrong), so I will have to reinstall it. Then I can try to reinstall battery drivers as u suggested. I think this will not affect my BIOS or Linux, but it is true that I am desperate and I will surely try that as soon as possible. I will let u know how did it go.

If the battery is not charging or recognized as present by BIOS, it would indicate to me that there is likely to be a problem with the battery itself.
I would definitely appreciate an update when you find the time to make one.

I dont know if u didnt read my first message and just sent some copy pasta reply, but I already described that. I had already tried 2 new batteries and then tried original battery which was in pc from factory, and bios does not detect any of them. 🙂
However, I will try to fix my windows and will update u with my progress.

So, even the power LED does not light up?
If it does not, that means there is a hardware issue.
By a hardware issue, I mean a failed component where power comes into the notebook.
A blown capacitor, MOSFET or current fuse could easily be the cause of the no power problem.
