Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?

I have the same issue with an HP Pavilion laptop.  I've replace the original battery twice with "aftermarket" HP-ish batteries that supposedly replace the model of battery that came with the laptop originally.

My issue now is a bit more complicated.

I received the "battery not detected" message. I searched online for a resolution to this and found a few. One was to upgrade to Windows 11 ( I was running Windows 10).  Ok, cool, let's do that.  The battery read 33%, but when I plugged the laptop into the original power cord, it appeared to be working just fine.

I started the Windows 11 installation...you know where this is going, huh?  Got to 81% on the install and the laptop flashed me a "Locking" message (due to battery drain) and shutdown.

So now I have a dead battery, that, I'm guessing, is still NOT DETECTED by the laptop.

The fact that the laptop was plugged into power with the original charger apparently matters not - cause their ain't no power getting to the laptop.

And, well, I figure I'm SOL anyway - since Microsoft always warns: DO NOT TURN OFF PC when doing an operating install/upgrade.

I know I could spend another $30-35 on ANOTHER replacement battery (that hopefully has enough charge this time) to complete the HP Battery check and execute whatever is recommended, but that's only if Windows 10 is still operable on the laptop, otherwise it is a boat anchor.

Any thoughts would be helpful.

Side-note...I am following one suggestion (online) to use a USB-C charger plugged into the USB-C port on the laptop to see if that will give some juice to the battery, but not holding my breath at this point. Glad we started backing up the data a few weeks ago and have a copy of the last "image" when the laptop was last started. Whew.

Yes your problem seems more complex. Good luck with it.

At least mine is able to work when plugged into power. Someone the battery is ignored, not charging or being detected.
