HP Pavillon Gaming Laptop 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my pc. In the last two weeks, when i run a software or a game (like Solidworks or  NBa2k20 which require high performance) with 30/40% of battery level, the pc shut down and the battery level reaches 0% so i have to charge it. My pc is almost new, in fact I bought it 10 months ago so i can't explain this problem. I've done right now a battery test on HP support assistant and it says that the battery is weak and uses only the 48% of his original capacity. Are these two facts linked? Anyway, is the battery covered by the 1st year of guarantee?

@Lagra99 Welcome to HP Community!

There's a common misconception that you can't connect the laptop to the adapter constantly or the battery would get damaged, this isn't true, because you get a smart adapter that stops charging as soon as it reaches 100%, so you can always keep the battery connected to the wall outlet, that said, if you don't wish to do that, you may want to run the calibration and test of your battery using the steps mentioned here

Also, to answer your question, the batteries only have a 90day warranty, if you need to get it replaced you may have to bare the charges.

Let me know how that pans out,

Hi, @Riddle_Decipher thank you for your answer. I asked to HP support and they explained to me how to run some battery and power supply tests. I did them and their results were okay. So the support explained to me how to calibrate the battery and I did it. It seems nice but it happened again, the laptop reaches 30% of battery level and turn off. What can I do? Does it need another calibration? Thanks for your help 🙂

@Lagra99 I recommend you update the BIOS using the HP support site, once done, do the calibration again and let me know if the issue persists, also, please try with an alternate wall outlet and another adapter (if possible)

If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.
