Hi @Error-Nish,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for explaining the issue clearly. Based on your description, it sounds like your HP Victus laptop is experiencing:

  1. Battery drain while powered off, and
  2. Performance lag when running on battery (not AC power).

This happens in gaming laptops, especially after firmware or driver updates. Let’s break it down and troubleshoot both problems:

Issue 1: Battery Drains While Powered Off

Fixes:

  1. Disable Fast Startup:
    • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
    • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
    • Uncheck Turn on fast startup.
    • Save and restart.
  2. Disable USB Charging in BIOS:
    • Restart and press F10 to enter BIOS.
    • Look for USB Charging in Off State or similar and disable it.
    • Save and exit.
  3. Update BIOS and Power Drivers:

Issue 2: Performance Lag on Battery

This is often due to power plan settings or GPU throttling on battery.

Fixes:

  1. Change Power Plan Settings:
    • Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery > Additional Power Settings.
    • Select High Performance or Ultimate Performance.
    • Under Change plan settings > Advanced, set:
      • Processor power management > Minimum processor state to 100% on battery.
      • Graphics settings to Maximum performance.

  2. Check HP Command Center or OMEN Gaming Hub.
    • Open the app and set Thermal Profile to Performance.
    • Ensure Battery Saver Mode is off.

  3. Update GPU Drivers:
    • Use GeForce Experience (for NVIDIA) or AMD Adrenalin to update to the latest drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
