Yes.

From the Maintenance & Service guide for the laptop model, there is a 76 WH battery that is compatible.

See Chapter 3, Page 21, table 3-2, item 18

Battery (Li-ion, includes cable):

Description and                       HP Part number
6 cell, 76 Whr, 3.53 Ahr              M73470-005
3 cell, 51 Whr, 4.68 Ahr              M73466-005

I found a few sources in the EU.  See my search below. I have purchased batteries from LaptopBatteryShop.nl before.

@flancenik

You have to use the right batteries which is/are for your machine. Using different battery for your machine it

  • Won't work,
  • May damage your machine

Thank you for the answer, however what I wanted to know is, if it is possible to upgrade from 51 Wh to a 76Wh battery for my laptop model.

Hi,

Coming back on this as I just wanted to make sure that 6 cell, 76 Whr, M73470-005 battery would actually fit in. On my screenshot below,  are these (circled items) some kind of placeholders to be removed when replacing 51 Whr battery with a bigger one (76 Whr)? I am not an expert, that's why I am asking.

No.

The battery will fit into the very same  space that the current battery fits into.

The only difference is the number of cells, not the physical size.

Thanks, however I noticed 76Whr battery has 5 screws while 51Whr that I  currently got (see my recent screenshot) has only 4 screws. So I was wondering if the 76Whr battery will fit in, as it looks like it is a bit bigger. My question was if the items I marked on my screenshot were the removable placeholders added when the smaller battery is in use, or what are those then?

Those pieces appear to be there for better fitment within the enclosure.

If there are empty spaces within a somewhat flexible enclosure, pressure on those areas might cause damage to components near them.

I managed to find this thread on Reddit and it looks like someone confirmed down in the comments section, that in order to replace 51Whr battery with a 76Whr one on an Elitebook 860 G9 (Intel version), he had to remove those two plastic spacer blocks to have the 76Whr battery fit in. Meaning to me, as I thought, the 76Whr is bigger (has additional fifth screw) and cannot fit the same space as the 51Whr one.

Then do you suppose that all of the vendors of the battery who guarantee the battery compatibility with your laptop are wrong?

https://www.google.com/search?q=M73470-005&oq=M73470-005&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIGCAEQRRg70gE...

I would tend to believe the vendors, especially one on Amazon.com rather than one person on Reddit.

What is posted on Reddit isn't always correct.

It is your laptop and it is up to you.
