My Omen-15t-en0000 is 5 years old and always felt the battery performance was consistent. Then suddenly, the battery started declining super quick, and it was only a day or so before the battery is no longer even recognized in UEFI diagnostics and only works on the charger. Now I get HP BIOS error 601, and sometimes 502. Maybe it faulted so suddenly because the house has been cold this winter due to the heater being out, in addition to it simply getting old. But since I've moved to a smaller country with only 1 approved service center far away that hasn't replied, and have no warranty, seems like I have to see about shipping a replacement.
This video looks like mine, but there's no details or replacement listed. As long as I can fix it myself, are there HP or approved non-HP battery replacements? I haven't had much luck finding one I know is okay for this model, so I appreciate all the help.

Hi @Subscriber8,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you’ve run into some frustrating battery issues with your HP Omen 15t. The BIOS errors 601 and 502 indicate that the battery is either faulty or no longer recognized by the system, which is consistent with the symptoms you're describing (battery not being detected and rapid drain).
Given that the laptop is about 5 years old, it's certainly possible that the battery has simply aged and worn out. The cold weather could have accelerated the decline, as low temperatures can reduce a battery’s capacity and efficiency.
To resolve the issue, you have a couple of options:
HP Battery Replacement: HP does offer replacement batteries, but since your device is out of warranty and there’s no nearby service center, purchasing directly from HP might involve shipping. HP’s official site should list the specific replacement battery for your Omen 15t, or you can check with authorized resellers who might ship internationally.- Approved Third-Party Batteries: There are also third-party replacement batteries that are often compatible with HP laptops, but it’s important to make sure you choose a reputable brand to avoid potential issues. Websites like Battery World, Laptop Battery Express, or Amazon have listings for HP-compatible batteries. Be sure to check the model number and specifications carefully to ensure compatibility with your Omen 15t.
- Avoiding Cheap or Generic Batteries: While generic batteries can be tempting due to cost, they can sometimes cause issues, especially with overheating, battery life, or even damaging your laptop in extreme cases. Always look for batteries with a good reputation and warranty coverage.
I’d recommend double-checking the part number of your current battery (often found on the battery itself or in your laptop’s manual) and searching for a replacement with those specifications.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
