Battery replacement for laptop HP ENVY Laptop 17-ae0xx

Hi,

The HP ENVY 17 Maintenance and Service Guide says that this is the battery needed:
9-cell, 93-Wh, 2.8-Ah, Li-ion battery : Spare part number 593550-001

But if I search this part number on the HP Parts Store, I get a message "Part discontinued by manufacturer". There is another part mentioned instead (636631-001), but if I click on this part, I get another message "This part is used in more than 200 products, we can not show the details". I.e. a dead end.

A more general search online for part number 593550-001 turns up results, but I am not sure if they are actually compatible with my laptop and are of a good quality. Would really prefer keeping things simple and buying it direct from HP.

What shall I do to identify a suitable replacement?

HP does not stock batteries on all the different laptops it sells for very long. On an older model like this one you have to go to the secondary market. This is a clip in battery, customer replaceable and is an MU09, one of the most common laptop batteries ever. 

This is from a very high rated amazon uk seller and would serve your need well for a bit over 20 pounds.

Hi Huffer,

I bought the battery you suggested, the one from Amazon. When I took this battery and my HP ENVY 17 Laptop to a computer repair shop to get the original HP battery replaced, and when the technician opened up the laptop, it emerged that the two batteries are a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SIZE.

The original battery in my laptop, I now know, has a part number 916368-421, and it also says that replace with HP Spare 916814-855.

I shall return the battery I bought from Amazon back to them and let the repair shop source an appropriate replacement.
