If I only use my laptop with the power cord do I need to replace the battery? HP support assistant says it should be replaced.   Its a sealed laptop and I have no clue how I would replace the battery.

You remove the rear cover and replace the battery. We can help with Manuals and video (probably). Keeping a dead battery in the laptop runs the risk it will swell and cause damage to other components. You would be better off removing the battery if you just want to run it on AC power.
