Hi
I am using an HP Pavilion touchscreen laptop, It recently started displaying a warning about the battery needs replacing but it does not have a detachable battery. It is out of warranty but I had bought a warranty extension a couple of days ago, I was wondering if the warranty will cover replacing the battery as it looks like the laptop will need opening up.
Thanks in advance for your response.

Yes it requires removing the back cover...here is the Service Manual.
See pages 32-34 and you can decide how technical it is. Perhaps can find a friend who is handy with a screwdriver or buy the battery and take it to a local shop with the laptop. To a skilled tech its about a 20 minute job.
3-cell, 41 Whr, 3.55 Ahr, Li-ion battery L11119-855
Probably costs much less than you thought.
Above is a 3rd party compatible battery which is perfectly OK or there is this genuine part:

Carepack extended warranty generally does not include "consumables" which means the battery. The battery can be replaced it just means opening the back cover. If you can provide the full model number we can give you a link to a manual for replacement and suggestions for where to buy a battery.

So in the case of compact laptops like mine, I guess I just have to find someone technical to replace the battery because it definitely needs opening to replace it. Thanks very much for taking the time to respond. The model is Pavilion 15cw1001na.
