I'm trying to fill out a "battery safety recall" form. I keep being asked for a battery "bar code" number. My battery has a bar code ON it but no numbers under it and I don't have a bar code reader. How can I get a bar code number?

@careyboy, Thanks for your quick response and time.

I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.

As you mentioned you need to know if the battery is safe or not on your PC.

Since you have not shared the serial number of the product I might not be able to check the details.

However, You can download a softpaq on your PC and check yourself if the battery is affected or not on your PC.

Download the softpaq using this link. Click Here

Hi! @careyboy, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you have issues filling the battery recall form.

Don't worry I'll to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your laptop?

Are you using an HP genuine battery on your laptop?

Every battery shipped with HP units has a CT number on it. If you are not using an HP genuine battery you will not have the CT number.
