Battery life has never diminished, I have never had issues with it charging to full capacity.
Two months ago I realized that my laptop is solely running off of the power cable. The battery says it is 0% charged. It is not that the battery can't hold a charge properly, its not even trying. Has the battery somehow been disabled?

Hi @MTarango,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your HP Laptop 15s-fq2000 battery suddenly stopped charging, even though it used to charge normally. Let’s go through some steps to troubleshoot this issue.
Check Power Source & Adapter
Make sure your wall outlet works by plugging in another device.
Inspect the power adapter and cable for damage, bends, or loose connections.
Ensure the adapter is the original HP charger with the correct wattage.
Inspect Battery & Connections
If your model has a removable battery, power off the
laptop, remove the battery, and clean the contacts gently.
Reinsert the battery and plug in the adapter.
Perform a Hard Reset
Turn off the laptop and unplug the power adapter.
Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge residual power.
Reconnect the power adapter (leave the battery in) and turn the laptop on.
Check BIOS/UEFI Settings
Restart the laptop and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS/UEFI.
Look for battery health information or charging options.
If the battery is listed as “Disabled,” enable it and save changes.
Update Drivers & BIOS
Boot into Windows and open Device Manager → expand Batteries.
Right-click Microsoft AC Adapter → Update driver
Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery → Update driver
Use HP Support Assistant to check for BIOS updates that may affect battery detection.
Try a Battery Test
In HP Support Assistant, run the Battery Check diagnostic to see if the system recognizes the battery and if it’s functioning properly.
I hope this helps.
