Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

I am currently using an HP Elitebook 745 G6. I have noticed that the battery overcharges, which has caused it to swell. My question is, is there no mechanism in the computer that prevents it from overcharging or provides overvoltage protection?

 I want to know if I must remove the charger when charging the battery.
