Hi. Last few day my notebook 15s-fq2000 won’t boot without the power adapter.
followed instructions online by removing the battery and holding button for 15secs but that didn’t work.
Ran a test through HP PC Diagnostics windows on battery check, result was CANCELLED. The last time the battery health monitor passed was 2023-07-18, 2023-09-24 it was cancelled.
Also getting bioserror- cmos reset (502). Updated bios and restored to default settings but still giving bios error.
The notebook is just over a year old and maybe charged about 20 times max.
Any other options I can try apart from buying a new battery which I think should still be covered under warranty.
Thanks

The battery has gone completely dead and the smart chip inside is also bad so the motherboard is not detecting a battery. BIOS issue comes from the fact that current laptops keep BIOS and clock settings with the main system battery and not a separate RTC or CMOS battery so your BIOS will keep going back to default. It's not just worn from use it has totally failed. Replacement will resolve your problem. Batteries are typically warranted a year in the US and usually last longer but not always. UK may require a longer battery warranty. I am not an HP employee so cannot help you with warranty claim but I encourage you to keep trying with HP Support and let them make the decision.
