HP Elite Book 850 G3. This a refurbished unit. The battery will not charge over 79%. I replaced the battery and I still obtain the same maximum of 79%. The windows 10 battery report tells me the battery is OK. I read in another post that someone (the refurbisher) probably installed a battery charge limiter to protect the battery. Is this a software program? Where is it? and can it be modified or removed? The unit is performing OK but I would like to get the maximum operation time under battery.

That laptop has a fairly advanced BIOS menu. I would check in the power management options section. Limiting the laptop to an 80% charge actually extends the battery life in terms of years of use, but as you say at the expense of battery runtime in hours per use. To enter BIOS, tap esc then F10 as you power up.

That has answered my questions. Nice to know that I can adjust the battery settings to match my needs. I switched the setting from 'Maximise my battery health' to 'Maximize battery duration'.
Thank you very much!
