HP Spectre x360 - 13-aw0023dx

The charger has been tested on a different laptop and it is working. Battery won’t charge a on both thunderbolt ports nether they work as a display ports. Tried all tips for hard reset like pressing and holding a power button for 15-30 secs with or without F6 pressed with or without power cord connected neither worked. Seems it is a hardware problem more likely connectors issue based on repair videos I found. Looks like there are lots of people having same problem. I wonder if there is a recall from HP on this issue?

You stated "this charger" is it a charger other than the one your laptop was delivered with?

The compatible chargers are the ones below, which are from the Maintenance & Service guide for your laptop.

65-W HP Smart AC adapter (non-PFC, slim, USB Type-C, straight, 1.0-m) L04650-850
65-W HP Smart AC adapter (non-PFC, USB Type-C, RC, 1.0-m)                     L32392-001

Sorry I should of mentioned that I do have two charges both from HP both for my laptop model both work and tested on different computers.

When plugged in there is no charge light doesn't matter what port I use.

Same with display port cable - no signal to the monitor.

The laptop worked for me for 4 years - I hoped it will last more when you invest $1700 to get it

I wonder if someone could help me with HP support contact. Because the warranty is expired the only option I could find is this forum. Is there a chance I can talk to a HP representative in regards to this issue?

Does the laptop still boot to Windows, but does not charge?

Have you run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics utility to see if the system test passes?

Yes, it does boot to Windows and works without problems running on battery power. I bought a new battery which came completely charged.

I did run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics - all looks good except of course AC adapter

I am leaning towards a system board issue on this one.

For those who has similar problems here is a video which shows and explains a very likely hardware problem.

Looks like it is very common for this model.

As a result a nice $1700 computer is turned into a brick because of a cheap failed connector.

My next laptop will definitely be not the one made by HP - very frustrating.

Good find!

I have been watching NorthridgeFix video for a couple of years. He definitely knows what he is doing.
