Hi @Deenafro
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
The issue that you have mentioned is caused when the battery can no longer hold voltage while the laptop sleeps, the system drops power and Windows forces a restart when you wake it.
1. Perform an HP Hard Reset (Power Drain)
This fixes EC/controller battery warnings.
- Shut the laptop down
- Unplug charger
- Hold power button for 15–20 seconds
- Plug charger back in
- Turn on again
2. Check Battery Health (takes 2 minutes)
BIOS Battery Test
- Turn the laptop off
- Power on and immediately press Esc
- Press F2 for System Diagnostics
- Choose Component Tests → Power → Battery Test
If the result says Weak / Very Weak / Replace, the battery is the problem.
3. Updating the BIOS.
“ BEFORE YOU UPDATE THE BIOS : Plug in the AC power adapter & Do NOT turn off the laptop during the update, Even if the screen goes black or fans rev up.”
Go to: https://support.hp.com/in-en → Drivers & Software
Enter your laptop model → Choose Windows 10/11 64-bit → Look under:
BIOS → “System BIOS” or “Firmware”
Run the BIOS installer
Double-click the downloaded file (e.g., spxxxxx.exe).
It will show HP’s BIOS Update Utility.
Choose:
“Update” → “Restart and install BIOS”
Your laptop will reboot into the HP BIOS Update screen and kindly wait until u see the login page.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
