I replaced my battery and it charged. The HP Support Assistant show the battery is charging and the percent charged but the message keep saying "no battery detected". I've gone thru this thread and tried to do everything anyone has suggested but none have worked. How do I get my laptop to recognize the battery? Is it important that the laptop recognizes the battery. I appreciate any and all assistance. Thanks

I guess I will have to repeat what I said.
Use a pencil eraser on the contacts of the battery and in the compartment where the battery makes connection. Cleaning the contacts may resolve the issue you are facing.
The battery communicates with the firmware through a couple of the contacts.
If the contacts have perhaps some oxidation on them, there will be no communication with the HP Support Assistance software through the firmware.

"I've gone thru this thread and tried to do everything anyone has suggested but none have worked"
That is a bit too all encompassing.
Kindly list everything you have tried.
Otherwise, I can't see how anyone can really help you.
Where are you seeing the message? in the HP Support Assistant or Windows OS ?
Sometimes, given the type of battery installation you have, a pencil eraser used on the metal contacts can resolve the issue. It won't hurt anything to try.

Enrico,
The problem described in my post shows in the HP Support Assistant. When I run a battery test I get the message that no battery is installed but, at the same time, I also get a message noting the percentage of the (battery that doesn't exist) that has charged. This is the steps I've followed in an attempt to get the HP Support Assistant to recognize my new battery.
Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8. and I did not not skip any troubleshooting steps even if steps repeated.
- Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
- Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
- On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
- Press F10 to Save and Exit.
- Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
- Follow the prompts to restart your computer.
When that didn't solve the problem I worked thru the following.
1. Go to Start, search for Device Manager, and open this result.
2. Expand batteries.
3. Right-click on the ACPI option (usually the 2nd option) and select delete or uninstall. Follow the prompts.
4. Shut down the computer.
5. Disconnect the charger.
6. Remove the battery.
7. Hold down the power button for 1 minute.
8. Insert the battery only.
9. Attempt to turn the battery on.
I believe you wrote you wrote both of these in response to someone else having the same problem. I hope this is sufficient and answers your request for more a explicit explanation of what I did to correct the problem. I would appreciate any help you, HP or the community are able to lend. - Dan

Hi @DanLL123 .
If the battery charges and you see the percentage of charge increasing/decreasing in the Windows systray, the battery is recognized by the laptop and the OS, just not the HP Support Assistant.
I wish you had read my last reply through to the end. Did you try what I suggested?
That was someone else who made those suggestions.
The power reset document that you provided a link to is not for the issue you have.
"Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing, keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up."
The issue you have is that the battery S.M.A.R.T. chip information is not being seen by the HP Support Assistant.
Had you considered uninstalling the current version of Hp Support Assistant in your notebook's OS and then installing the current version from the HP Support Assistant web document?
There does exist the possibility that the new battery has a SMART chip that is not communicating with your notebook. It may be faulty.
If I were you, I would consider contacting the vendor to arrange a replacement to be sent, even though it would mean replacing the battery again.
I installed a new battery in my Spectre 13t-ap0000 x360 notebook when the OEM battery failed. I have not had the issue you are having.
I do not use the HP Support Assistant because I have no need for it.

Eric Owen,
Please forgive my misspelling.
The battery appears to be charging normally and I have the most recent version of the Support Assistant.
I can't say that I've had the best of experiences in dealing with HP as a result my next computer, in all likelihood, will be an Apple.
Thanks for the attempted assistance and suggestions. - Dan
