Hi.
I am writing this because I am very worried about my new HP Omen laptop which is model XD0015AX. The battery performance is very poor, and it only last 2 hours on battery in very lite use. It's been only 2 days since I got this laptop. Today the laptop shut down at 6% battery health and when it charged it. I checked the battery report which i also did yesterday. The full capacity yesterday was 83020 mWH and today it is 82700 which is not good that in only one day the battery health affected so much. I only using playing a light game like Angry Birds and surfing internet. I am very concerned and seek help asap.

Hi @HarmanOX,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing some concerning battery performance issues with your new HP Omen laptop.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially improve the battery health and performance:
Check Power Settings: Ensure that your power settings are optimized for battery life. You can do this by:
- Going to Settings > System > Power & battery.
- Under Power mode, select Best power efficiency.
Update Drivers and BIOS: Make sure your laptop’s drivers and BIOS are up to date. HP frequently releases updates that can fix battery performance issues.
- You can check for updates through HP Support Assistant or by visiting the HP support website.
Battery Calibration: Calibrating your battery can sometimes help improve performance. To do this:
- Charge the laptop to 100%.
- Use it until it shuts down due to low battery.
- Leave it turned off for a few hours, then charge it back to 100% without interruption.
Close Background Apps: Check for any unnecessary background applications that might be consuming power.
- You can view this in Task Manager (press Ctrl + Shift + Esc). Look for apps using significant resources.
Check for Battery-Saving Features: Some HP laptops come with features like HP Battery Health Manager that can help extend battery life. Check if this feature is enabled and adjust settings as necessary.
Perform a Battery Report: Since you already checked your battery report, you may want to generate a new one after following these steps to compare results. Use the following command in Windows Terminal or Command Prompt: powercfg /batteryreport
Run HP Diagnostics: Use the HP Hardware Diagnostics tool to check for any battery-related issues.
- Restart your laptop and repeatedly press F2 during boot to enter diagnostics. HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures

Unfortunately I have done this and only after the battery calibration the battery health is decreased to 95% now in just 4 days after purchasing this hew laptop. A technician from HP came to check my laptop and they also said that this is unexpected because people doesn't face this type of battery condition after months. But when he was talking about me issue then the HP chat support and their higher or seniors were saying that it's normal. I mean 5% decreased in battery full capacity in 4 days is normal for a new HP omen laptop where the company claims to deliver battery backup up to 8 hours? They said it depends on usage so how a powerful gaming laptop can't run Microsoft edge for internet browsing for +2 hour? It takes 3 hours to charge this machine and it only lasts 2 hours on best efficiency mode while using Microsoft edge. My cousin have a HP laptop as well maybe victus with similar specifications and he doesn't face this issue.
