Welcome to our HP Community forum!
There are a couple of Chromebooks floating around in my home.
Anyway, it seems like your HP Chromebook might be facing a battery issue or a charging circuit problem. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
1. Perform a Hard Reset:
Turn off the Chromebook.
Press and hold the Refresh key (it looks like a circular arrow) and then press the Power button.
Hold both keys for about 10 seconds, then release.
Try turning it on again. This can often fix minor software or power issues.
2. Check the Charger and Charging Port:
Inspect the charger and the charging port for any visible damage or debris.
Try using a different charger (if possible) to ensure your charger isn't faulty.
Make sure the charging cable is securely plugged into both the Chromebook and the power outlet.
3. Battery Calibration:
Turn off the Chromebook.
Plug in the charger and let the device charge for about an hour.
After charging, unplug the charger and try to turn it on without it. This can help calibrate the battery.
4. Battery Health Check:
If the Chromebook still doesn't turn on without the charger, the battery might be damaged or worn out. In this case, you likely will need to contact HP Support for further assistance or consider replacing the battery if it is out of warranty.
5. Check for Firmware/OS Issues:
Sometimes, an issue with Chrome OS or a recent update can cause power problems. Performing a Powerwash (a factory reset) might help, but only after backing up important data!
Let me know how it goes, or if you need further assistance!
Kind Regards,
