Hi @SunnyinAZ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your battery is plugged in, shows a lightning bolt icon, but is not charging and remains at 8%, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Check the AC Adapter:

  • Make sure the AC adapter is correctly connected to both the laptop and the power outlet.
  • If possible, test the AC adapter on another compatible device or try a different adapter to ensure it's working properly.

Inspect the Battery:

  • Remove and reinsert the battery to ensure it is seated properly.
  • Check for any visible damage to the battery.

Check Power Settings:

  • Open the Power Options settings on your laptop. Ensure there aren't any settings that might be limiting the charging capacity.
  • If possible, set the power plan to a balanced mode that allows charging.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off your laptop and disconnect the AC adapter.
  • Remove the battery from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual charge.
  • Reinsert the battery and connect the AC adapter to see if the problem persists.

Battery Calibration:

  • If your battery has been unused for a month or more, it may need calibration. Discharge it below 5% before fully charging it again.

Software Updates:

  • Ensure that your laptop’s BIOS and device drivers are up to date, as updates can often resolve compatibility and charging issues.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
