I researched the best HP Pavilion laptop for students in 2025 over the past few days because my cousin is heading to college soon and needs something reliable.

I read reviews on CNET, Laptop Mag, and TechRadar—and these two are being rated the best:

HP Pavilion 15.6" HD Touchscreen

https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-Touchscreen-Anti-Glare-Processor/dp/Bsdbvdg4L53W

HP Pavilion 16" WUXGA

https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-Touchscreen-Computer-Processor/dp/B0hhjfj61TYCN

Both look amazing but I’m stuck deciding which one would be a better fit for a student’s daily use.

It’ll be used for Note-taking and web browsing, Zoom classes and video calls, Light gaming, Streaming content, Occasional coding, Some creative tasks like photo/video editing

So what do you think?

Which one would you recommend Best HP Pavilion laptop for a student in 2025?

Any advice would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!

@Marta67, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Key Considerations:

Option 1: HP Pavilion 15.6" HD Touchscreen (Intel Core Processor, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD)

Option 2: HP Pavilion 16" WUXGA (1920 x 1200, Intel Core i5, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD)

Performance:

The 16" WUXGA has LPDDR5 RAM, which is faster and more efficient for multitasking and handling larger files. PCIe SSD is also faster for storage access, so programs and files will load quicker compared to the other model’s standard SSD.

The Core i5 in Option 2 (likely 12th-gen or newer) should be slightly more power-efficient and better for long sessions on Zoom or working on lighter creative tasks like photo/video editing.

Display Quality:

The 16" WUXGA display is a big win here—higher resolution (1920 x 1200) and more screen real estate (16 inches vs. 15.6 inches). It’s better for multitasking and offers better clarity for videos, coding, and creative work.

The 15.6" HD screen might be a bit limiting, especially for editing photos/videos or having multiple windows open at once.

Gaming & Creative Work:

Neither of these laptops are gaming laptops, but light gaming should be fine on both.

For photo/video editing, Option 2 with the better screen resolution (WUXGA) and faster RAM would likely offer a smoother experience, especially if working with photo/video editing software like Photoshop, Premiere, etc.

At the end of the day, the decision is entirely yours, and we truly respect that. Our goal is to provide you with all the information and support you need to make the choice that’s best for your needs.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
