I'm looking to download a music-writing software. The laptop can hold a total of 119GB of storage. I have downloads already on here that I use often, and this is another important one. What would be the best extra storage option to purchase? An external hard drive? If so, what kind or what is it called?

Here is the Service Manual:
You likely have a 128 gig M.2 solid state drive. If all you need to do with the extra storage you ask about is literally store music and beats or loops or whatever for use by the editing/writing app you could use an external hard drive but that is very cumbersome. Your laptop could have an internal 2.5 inch SSD or hard drive added to what you have already. Then you would always have that available and not have to pack it along in addition to the laptop.
However, to really know exactly what you have and figure out how to help you I need the full model or product number of the laptop. Here is how to find it:

If you need to have a large installation of operating software you need a larger M.2 SSD. Apps cannot be installed onto a secondary drive; only the main boot drive so you need to upgrade to say a 512 or 1 TB M.2 SSD.
