Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Looking for some advice before I buy a new laptop.... I am retired, a casual photographer, a hobbyist with some basic editing requirements(RAW)..... looking for 8 GB RAM, 250 GB SSD. i7 14 inch screen. Choice narrowed to HP 14-ck0599sa or 14-ce0505sa...... I am not a computer techie but the spec looks pretty similar.  Any opinions, alternatives etc welcome. Do I need a good graphics card for photo editing?

I am a 6 months old (6 months at the end of this month) retiree and now spending time to "play" around with my grand children photos and videos.

 

You mentioned you will do RAW photos a lot therefore I think you need more power for your work. One week before leaving my office, I bought an HP machine, its specs

Note: the specs does not say about the GTX 1070 card, my machine actually has this card.

 

It is just enough for me to work on photos and videos. It could be a bit big and heavy when do a comparison with 14" machines.

 

Back to your question, I would buy the 599 because it is newer and faster. I would add more RAM to it  using the following compatible RAM
