Hp Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I have an HP Notebook (product number Y0H41UA#ABA) that has recently been charging weird once it reaches 80%, it starts charging for about 30 seconds, then stops, then starts again repeatedly, it never gets above 83% because of this. I noticed that my HP Support Assistant had an update for me, and the update was Hp Notebook System BIOS Update (AMD Processors) so I installed it hoping it would fix my battery issue. However, when it was finished installing and my notebook booted back up, Hp Support Assistant still had that update and said I needed it, and my battery issue is still there. I'm a bit confused, did it not install the update? Why is it still showing this update as being available?

@snowflakebottls

I reviewed your post and I understand that the battery is not getting charged correctly.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you install the BIOS update manually from the below link and check whether the issue is resolved.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp105501-106000/sp105966.exe

If you continue facing the issue, then reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under the device manager.

Here is how you do it.

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”

Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”

Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Apologies for the late response, I tried manually installing the bios update with the link you gave, and at first I thought it had worked. The battery no longer stops and starts charging periodically, but now I don't think it's charging at all. It's stuck at 41% and it says "41% available (plugged in)", when I unplug it, it still loses charge, and then gets stuck again at whatever number I plug it back in at. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery but that didn't seem to do anything either.
