I cracked the glass screen on my computer. After watching many YouTube videos, including the how-to from HP, it looked like something I could replace on my own. So I ordered a new screen, followed step by step what all the videos had, but my screen didn't turn on. The PC does, but the screen doesn't respond. I took the connections out multiple times to make sure they were in correctly, still nothing. Then I put the old one back in but it's also not working. Everything looks the same but I'm not sure what I did. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

@Amy_Devine, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding black screen after replacement!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like there might be an issue with the connections or possibly the LCD cable, as it's quite sensitive during screen replacements. Here's a quick checklist you can try:
Double-check all connections: Even though you’ve checked them multiple times, sometimes a loose connection can be tricky. Ensure that both the display connector and the cable are securely attached to the motherboard and the screen. Look for any pins that might be bent or damaged.
Check the backlight: Shine a flashlight at an angle to the screen while the laptop is turned on. If you can see faint images or text, it means the backlight might be faulty. This could be caused by a problem with the inverter or backlight cable.
Reset the BIOS/CMOS: Sometimes after a hardware change, the system might not recognize the new components right away. Try performing a hard reset by disconnecting the battery and holding the power button down for 30 seconds. Reconnect everything and try booting up again.
Test with an external monitor: Connect your laptop to an external monitor. If it works fine, the problem is definitely with the screen or its connections.
Verify the replacement screen: Double-check the compatibility of the replacement screen you ordered. Even if it's the same model, there might be slight variations in connectors or specifications that could cause issues.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
