Hi @Egt11260,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A black screen with a blinking Caps Lock on an HP laptop typically indicates a hardware issue. The blinking pattern is a diagnostic code that can help pinpoint the problem. Here's what you can try to resolve it.

Interpret the Blinking Pattern

  • Blinking Caps Lock: The number of times the Caps Lock blinks in a sequence can provide a code. For example, two blinks followed by a pause usually indicates a memory issue (RAM), while one blink could indicate a CPU problem. Please count the blinks, and I can help identify the specific issue.

Hard Reset

  • Unplug the laptop and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Hold the power button for about 15–30 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reconnect the power (without the battery, if you removed it) and try turning the laptop on.

Reseat RAM (if possible)

  • If you're comfortable opening the laptop, try reseating the RAM. This can help if there’s an issue with the RAM connection.
  • Turn off the laptop, remove the battery, and disconnect power.
  • Open the back panel and gently remove and reseat the RAM modules.

External Monitor Test

  • Try connecting your laptop to an external monitor. If the display works on the external monitor, the issue may be with your laptop's screen or its connection.

Check for Overheating

  • If the laptop was overheating, it might have entered a safe mode to prevent further damage. Ensure the vents are not blocked and the laptop is cool before trying again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
