Hi @Nitu4717,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 14 is powering on but the screen remains black, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to fix the issue.

Check for External Display:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using an HDMI or VGA cable. If the external display works, it might be a problem with your laptop's screen or display settings.

Power Reset:

  • Turn off your laptop.
  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then turn on your laptop.

Adjust Display Settings:

  • Press the Windows key + P to cycle through display options (PC screen only, Duplicate, Extend, Second screen only). Try selecting different options to see if the display comes back.

Check Brightness Settings:

  • Ensure that the brightness is not set to the lowest level. Try adjusting the brightness using the function keys (usually F2 and F3).

Boot into Safe Mode:

  • Restart your laptop and press F8 repeatedly before the Windows logo appears.
  • Select "Safe Mode" from the options.
  • If the screen works in Safe Mode, there might be an issue with a recently installed driver or software.

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • If you can access the screen in Safe Mode or using an external display, update your graphics drivers.
  • Go to Device Manager, find your display adapter, right-click, and select "Update driver."

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off your laptop and unplug all external devices.
  • Turn it back on and see if the screen works.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • If the above steps don't work, there might be a hardware issue with the screen, graphics card, or internal connections.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
