I want to replace the CD drive in my laptop with a BluRay drive so that I can watch BluRay discs on my laptop. I don't care about creating BluRay discs, just watch them. Which drive woud be the best fit for this model laptop?

Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

See page 2 (9.5 mm SATA tray load), p. 32-33 (removal and disassembly of the optical drive).

HP did not offer a Blu-Ray option on the laptop.  You can however buy a generic Blu-Ray disk and transplant the hardware which holds the DVD burner in the laptop.

You will have to transplant  the mounting screw bracket, and the faceplate. Not hard to do and the Manual pretty well spells it out. Then you will also need Blu-Ray viewing software. Windows will not do that natively.

If your laptop is HD i.e. 1366 x 768 display resolution, and I believe it is, don't be disappointed when Blu-Ray content looks the same as DVD content. You need to have an FHD (1920 x 1080) screen before you can notice a difference. But if you own Blu-Ray movies you want to watch, there is no substitute and this drive will also read and burn CDs and DVDs.

Thanks for the information! The swap sounds easy enough, have the drive on oder and will let you know how things went.
