HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC - K7R28EA#ABU
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Update name: - "HP Development Company, L.P. - System - 11/19/2017 12:00:00 AM - 7.0.1.1".

I tried to apply this update 3 times and the result is the same.

Luckily a System Restore Point, from before the update got my laptop working. (HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC).

I have now taken the drastic step of disabling the Windows Update service, so that it doesn't automatically apply the update. (+ On Metered Connection.)

Is there anyway to block just the update on W10Home?

Unfortunately as the laptop doesn't boot, i can not use uninstall and block in this case.

Is it just my laptop, or has anyone else had the same problem?

I noticed some old threads from a similar named update, some solution of installing some sensor drivers.

Is this still the recommend solution.

Hoping that MS will pull/replace the update soon.

Or MS might have pulled the problem HP update.

Hi:

I can only provide an answer for how to block the problematic update from installing without having to shut down the whole windows update process...

Use the hide windows updates tool at the link below.  You can use the latest one listed on v1709 if you have the latest version of W10 installed.

Tried the Hide updates option already and couldn't find the update listed.

Don't want to be forced into restoring my system again by enabling updates to try that tool a second time.

Hopefully the update will be pulled/patched so I can try applying it again.

Edit: -

Enabled the Update service and was able to find the updates in Hide Updates tool.

Thank You.

This is a metoo experience, tried twice and had to do a restore using the advanced selection after HP repair/fix program tried to repair twice.

System still says an update was unable to install but is not located in the windows update list .

Reasonable to say that an update should actually work when released.

Hi:

It looks like Microsoft has released this notice on how to prevent that update from installing...

Tried the above, it maid the repair loop worse not better.

I believe the above solution, is for a different bug.

It still installed my listed update, I believe the solution is only removing a component of the update.

Going through another system restore at present.

Hiding the update is the safer solution at present.

Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry that didn't fix the particular issue you have.

Sounds like this bug is really a messy one.

When I ran the scrip, the below update also got applied.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4074588/windows-10-update-kb4074588

So even after removing the componet, any chane it got reinstalled with that?

My restore point was "Windows Modules Installer", so I assume the componet is back.

Because I'm not getting the kb4074588 update again.

Unfortunately, I have no idea.

Did the boot looping stop?

Hopefully, it did.

It eventually stopped and allowed me access to "advanced methods" so I could do a system restore.

It just took longer at the attempting repairs part.
