Hello,
My laptop (notebook 15t-da100 CTO) keeps giving a "no boot device found" error. This happens mostly when the device has been idling or in sleep mode/hibernate mode. There's the dreaded blue screen and then the above error. The system boots up after exiting the F2 mode with one or more attempts.
Brief history -
After an automatic windows 11 upgrade a couple of months ago, there was the disappearing wifi driver which resolved after closing some of the many tabs on chrome (had about a 100 on). There were blue screen errors rarely which did not have associated boot device not found errors.
But now, after checking and updating disk drivers and a BIOS update, "boot device not found" recurs quite unpredictably. Does anyone know if this is a hardware issue or if there is another software workaround? I'd appreciate your input.
Thanks.

Hi @grnspk,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're receiving a "Boot device not found" error on your HP Notebook 15t, it typically means that the computer is unable to find a valid operating system to start up from. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.
- Restart your computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off your computer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
- Check boot order: Enter the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) or UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) settings by pressing the appropriate key (usually F2, F10, or Del) during startup. Look for the "Boot" or "Boot Order" section and ensure that your primary boot device (typically the hard drive or SSD) is listed and prioritized as the first boot option.
- Reset BIOS settings: If you're unsure about the BIOS settings, you can reset them to their default values. Look for an option called "Reset to Default," "Load Defaults," or something similar. After resetting, save the changes and restart your computer.
- Check connections: Ensure that all cables and connections between your hard drive and the motherboard are secure. Open your laptop's back panel (if possible) and verify that the hard drive is properly connected.
- Test the hard drive: If possible, connect the hard drive to another computer and check if it is recognized. If it's not detected, the hard drive might be faulty and need to be replaced.
- Check for loose components: In rare cases, a loose component such as RAM or the hard drive itself can cause boot issues. If you're comfortable doing so, open your laptop and ensure that all internal components are securely seated.
- Use recovery media: If you have a Windows installation disk or a USB recovery drive, you can try booting from it to repair or reinstall the operating system.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
