How the BORN ON DATE (that is recorded into the BIOS upon the first boot) is communicated to the HP servers, so that the HP Warranty Status service (that is based on the serial number) knows this date, and shows this very date as the unit's "warranty start" date? Is it communicated via some sort of software, or upon Windows first activation, or how else?

In other words, could anyone please clarify the relationship between:

* "born on date" (that is showing in the system info when pressing F1 upon boot, it is normally set when the unit is booted for the first time),

* manufacture date (coded into the serial number xxxYWWxxxx where Y and WW show the "year, week" of when this unit was physically made),

* purchase date,

* warranty start date (showing by the server when one enters the serial number to see the warranty status).

Can the warranty start date show either of the other three?

I don't believe this info must be a big secret. If it is --- I am sorry for starting this topic.

I buy used corporate laptops (EliteBooks, Zbooks, ProBooks) on Amazon quite often (for further resale), and though the warranty is usually expired I always check the information on the HP website (to have a better idea of the wear level of each unit). Usually the "born on date" and the warranty start date match on the website. So I just was curious if each of the HP laptops were able to mysteriously communicate to the servers, and thus report their "born on date"  (so the online database started to use it t calculate warranty). Maybe it is just coincidence. Maybe the purchase date was the same and there was no mystery at all. However if a BIOS (or any of the HP soft) can communicate to the server transmitting this info I would be willing to know it.

And sometimes the dates look a bit weird.

This is from my own (very much loved, bought through Amazon) Zbook Studio G3:

Factory warranty Start date: December 27, 2016

End date: January 30, 2020

BIOS Date: 04/29/2021

Yet, the born on date showing in the BIOS is: 5/4/2021

???
