I bought this Spectre and it arrived yesterday. It is continuously overheating, especially when it's plugged in. I've been looking up workarounds. One suggested to turn down the max CPU power, but the version of Windows 10 I'm running has removed that feature entirely.
How can I keep the thing from overheating? It gets so hot it nearly burns my skin. If I can't get a solution I will need to ship it back.

Hi@AvrilK, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries. I have reviewed your post and I understand it's overheating on the new notebook.
Request you the following list describes some causes of excessive heat.
- A new component, such as a hard drive, is added. The extra component causes the power supply to work harder and generate more heat. Extra heat also radiates off the new component and adds to the temperature inside the case.
- Over time, some cooling fans might slow down and wear out, as the laptop is getting hot, depending on the usage of the laptop.
- High ambient room temperature.
Step 1: Updating the BIOS ( Make sure Power adaptor connected to notebook )
Step 2:Update Drivers from HP Support Assistance
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
