Purchased a brand new HP Pavillion laptop from Walmart. Started up and the battery is not visible to the system. Checked for warranty at HP and it's expired. Started a case number Case Number [Personal Information Removed] was directed to go to HPsupport.com. Used the virtual assistant and could not speak to a representative. NO OTHER HELP SEEMS TO BE AVAILABLE. If you think you can help and are a volunteer, then please do not provide a reply. If you are a volunteer and can ask a representative from HP to respond, that would be appreciated. Is it normal for there to be so much obfuscation for a simple question? Seems HP support is geared that way.

I've requested a forum moderator to ask a HP support rep to contact you to get the warranty start and end dates adjusted.
I assume you have tried the info at the link below to dispute the warranty online with negative results?

The reason that happened is most likely the notebook has been sitting unsold for quite a while--it may be brand new, but that model series has to be at least 2 - 3 years old, so I am not surprised the 1-year warranty has expired.
HP starts the warranty clock ticking the minute the notebook leaves the assembly plant, so the longer the notebook sits in a warehouse somewhere, the less time remains on the warranty.
If you look at the 4th, 5th and 6th characters of the serial number, those will tell you exactly when your notebook was manufactured.
For example, if the 4th, 5th and 6th characters of the serial number are 234, that means your notebook was manufactured in 2022 during the 34th week of the year.
I see previous forum posts going back to April of 2021 for that model.
