Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂
Congratulation on your purchase of the HP Envy Notebook-13-ab0XX.
I understand that there is a loud whirring noise coming from the internal fan of the laptop. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.
To assist you better, I would like to know the following information:
- Is the fan noisy right from the time the laptop powers on or it is intermittent?
- Does the laptop overheat?
While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
- Power off the laptop.
- Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
- Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
- Power ON the laptop.
If the fan continues to make the whirring noise then please refer to the steps from this HP document. Please note that some of the steps may be skipped like "cleaning the vents", etc. because it is a new laptop.
Finally, let us update the BIOS on the laptop. The BIOS can be downloaded and installed via this link: www.hp.com/drivers
NOTE: The charger must be connected during the BIOS update.
Hope this information helps. Feel free to keep me posted. Cheers! 🙂
