HP ENVY - 13-ah0001na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I tried casting my HP ENVY - 13-ah0001na to a Samsung Smart TV last week and it seemed to break something! The cast did not work as everything went black and upon disconnecting, the Intel and NVIDIA drivers were both showing errors. The brightness hotkeys were also not working, nor was the Night Light from the menu dragged in from the right of the screen. I updated both drivers and that fixed the issue.

So then I ordered a monitor which I hooked up to my laptop and it worked instantly. Upon disconnecting when I moved my laptop to another room everything still worked as normal. Great.

However, upon re-connecting and using again, when I disconnected for a second time, the brightness hotkeys do not work again. This time the Night Light button is still working and the graphics drivers seem fine. Having searched on here it seems as though I may need to update the Keyboard driver. It does not show an error and when I go to update it, it says the latest version is installed. The only thing I can think to do is try to manually install the latest one to override it and see if that helps, but I am not sure which driver to install...

This seems to be the list of drivers for my model:

There are a few listed under Keyboard and I am not sure which one it is. Please could someone let me know? Thank you

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to install the HP System Event Utility from your notebook's support page.

That is the hotkey software.

Hi Paul. Thanks for the reply. I downloaded and ran that driver but it is still not working.

What I do not understand is that the hotkeys still work on the wireless keyboard I am using with it.

The hotkeys on the actual laptop do not work whether the wireless keyboard is turned on or not.

Any ideas?

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I don't know why the Fn keys are not working.

That software from your notebook model series' support page is what is supposed to get the Fn keys to work.

Hi Paul

The keys started suddenly working today!

I can't make sense of it, but just pleased they are as I am constantly adjusting the brightness. Let's hope they stay working..

Best wishes
