How about identifying your notebook with its product number or product name?
Otherwise, we cannot help you.

I’m traveling out of the US now so any help is appreciated.

That is not an HP identification.
It doesn't help you for me to not have a clear understanding of your notebook's hardware configuration.
The document at the hyperlink that I provided in my first reply explains how to identify an HP desktop or notebook PC product.
Look closely on the bottom of your notebook. In tiny letters you will find ProdID. That is the product number.
You will also find the Product series name in the same place. Those are what I need.

Thanks - do the attached photos help? I don’t see any other writing unless maybe under the white label?
Also on the keyboard x360 at bottom left of keyboard and B&O sound logo below KB on right.
I appreciate your efforts.

I pointed to the part number and blurred out the S/N. The P/N (product number) would be perfect identification. It is tiny and blurry in your image so I can't read it. If you can post what it says that would help immensely. HP reected the immages because they showed the serial number.

Illustrated parts list begins on page 16 of chapter 3.
Is the power button plastic part missing?
I do not see it available as a separate part. It does not appear to be part of the power button board in the manual.

Erico
thanks so much for pointing me in the direction. The plastic trim that held the led button broke and the button disappeared. As near as I can tell there were prongs on the sides of the button connecting to the computer. At least with this info I can show it to someone who repairs computers to see if the part is still available.
i’m traveling in the UK now. I’m surprising myself with how well I’m managing with an iPad and a keyboard with mousepad.

That is indeed the case.
