Hi HP Community,

I’m having an issue with my HP laptop where the alignment pins of the bracket that secure the hinges have broken. The literal piece of plastic or support where the metal bracket is supposed to screw into is damaged — I can still screw in the P0 Phillips screws, but there’s no bracket underneath to properly anchor them. I’m unsure how this happened, and I’m confused about how such a critical structural part could break. My students use this laptop for coding and editing podcasts, so I must get this fixed quickly.

My question is:

  • Can I replace just the hinge bracket and alignment pins?

  • Or will I need to buy and replace the entire keyboard or palm rest assembly?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
