Not recalled. That will put HP Laptops out of business.

But HP should have the courtesy to provide a free or low charge on the service repairs.

Indeed, the defect is clear and out there and HP cannot compensate their service guys for their own mistakes but take it out on the custoemers

Hi@LeighJ,

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Apologies for all the inconvenience

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. This sounds like hardware related issue with the hinge assembly and in order to fix this issue,  your computer needs to be serviced.  As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now.

I would request you to reach out to our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the available service options in order to diagnose the computer physically.  HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/

Please feel free to contact us here anytime you need any further assistance. Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Hi Roxy410

My left hinge is the same, I think it is more the fitting inside the lid that the hinge fits into that is broken. There are hundreds of examples of the same FAULT but HP are not interested in resolving this fault. I have had numerous promises that someone from HP will call me to discuss this going back over 3 months and no call. Probably as HP's intention I have given up, I will try a repair myself and as soon as possible buy a non HP laptop, I recommend to anyone not to purchase HP again.

Same exact issue in the same exact place.  Little plastic piece next to hinge broke off and the hinge is giving out with the screen starting to crack at the bottom left corner.  I had the added luck of the screen falling out when I would pull the lid up so now I just keep the lid up.

If there's one thing I can count on with HP products is faulty quality.  I've had multiple HP products in the past and there has always been an issue with unreliable hardware.  I won't be buying another HP device after all the headache.  Don't even get me started on their customer service...

Agree.  I barely ever open and close my envy and both hinges are broken.  It is ridiculous this not a recall it is clearly a design problem.
