I have an HP Specter that's 14 months old, just two months out of warranty. A couple weeks ago the intel wifi 6 ax201 driver started giving me a "code 10 error." I took the laptop to Best Buy, and they couldn't do anything to fix it. I paid for a month of the HP SmartFriend so I could call someone and get some help. They told me it was $400 just to ship my laptop to them. I can't afford that, let alone any repairs that the laptop would need! I work full time and go to college part time and it's already hard to make ends meet every month. I took my laptop to some local repair folks, and fixed my hard drive issue that I referenced in my previous post, but they said that they can't repair the wifi chip because it's soldered to the motherboard.
I am at a total loss. I bought an $1800 laptop, thinking this would be an investment and last me years. Now barely over a year old and I can't use wifi. Which is super helpful in class /sarcasm. I don't know if there's a way to contact HP that's not through the SmartFriend service, but I really need help. This just seems so unfair. I can't even type this without crying.

Hi:
I am surprised the wifi adapter is an integral part of the motherboard, but according to the service manual there is no part listed for the wifi adapter and no procedure to remove and replace the wifi adapter.
The short-term solution so you can use wifi would be to purchase a dual band USB wifi adapter.
It appears that your notebook has a standard USB port as well as the USB C port.
You can contact the HP executive team at the link below and see if they can be of help to you regarding the hardware issues.
There appears to be something wrong with the link right now though...
