Envy x 360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP ENVY x 360 bought some time ago. I had issues with the broken left hinge which I posted on the forum. The only responses I got was to pay almost 400$ to get it fixed since it was out of warranty (multiple emails from HP reps).

The problem isn't just mine and it is a manufacturer's defect, which I believe should be recalled and fixed by HP. Has anyone gotten them fixed recently?

 The issue on my laptop has now escalated and I have to tape the screen to the metallic casing. Few of the cheap plastic components around the hinge have fallen off and I'm worried that one day this is going to break my screen too.

I loved the features this HP laptop brought so paid good price however, with all these issues, it seems I shouldn't have gone for HP. I'm never going for HP again.  Do not buy HP ENVYx360, if you are planning to.

Hi@scs2,

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

 Apologies for all the inconvenience

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. This sounds like hardware related issue with the hinge assembly and in order to fix this issue,  your computer needs to be serviced.  As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now.

I would request you to reach out to our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the available service options in order to diagnose the computer physically.  HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/

@Praveenbv

 Thank you for your response. The only reason I posted in here at the forum  was to see if you can be of any help besides pointing to your pathetic Support team. I also wanted to let everyone else know how HP doesn't own its faults in manufacturer's defect and put the cost of repair to its customer. It is such a shame to see how HP treats its loyal customers.

Thanks!

Here's the response I got.

I regret to inform you that your unit has reached End of Support Life, which means that HP no longer has access to recovery discs, hardware or software for your system. If you prefer you can contact either our Home & Home Office Group or our Commercial Department in your area to see what current models may fit your needs. You also have the option of taking it to a local repair shop in your area.

I know that I can take it to a local repair shop or do it myself ;). It's about HP owning to its fault which now is clear that it doesn't want to. I'm no more going to try and get it fixed. Sorry to say that HP will no longer be a choice for me, my friends and family. I had been a loyal customer for years now but this incident shows how HP treats its customer.

This is a scam! The issue appears once you are just out of warranty, when approached HP offers repair at half the price of your laptop and then after a couple of years says, go to a local shop as we can't help!. This is a manufacturing defect which the manufacturer should be liable.

For anyone reading this, please avoid buying HP if possible!.
