Hi all,

Last week my laptop wouldn't boot, I thought it was because of a stuck fan so i took it to my local computer shop to have it checked out. but it turned out to be a problem in the ram slot on the motherboard. my laptop has 4 GB ram soldered on and another slot with 4 gb, so i am able to use the 4 gb soldered on the motherboard, but not the 4 gb in the "extra" slot.
the guy in the shop said that the problem was not the ram stick so i assume he tried that one out on another laptop and it worked, so the problem is either hardware related, or maybe software related because he did not see any physical damage to the slot.
what are some things I can try to see if it works?
Keep in mind that the laptop does not boot up if i put in the other ram stick as of right now, but it does with the 4 gb removed.
