I've had my laptop for 2 years now and recently I had to position my laptop in a certain way to get it to connect to charge and recently it packed in all together. The inside part connecting the charger is very wobbly, I have a friend very good with fixing hardware issues and as im guessing its the inside part of the charger that is the issue I was wondering if its a burnt out wire or something if so what piece would i need to order to get this repared. If this is not the issue then what could this be and how much will it cost to fix.

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand you have a broken charger,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you check with an alternate charger to check if that works?

Perhaps, if you could get another, we could identify if the issue is within the charger or the charging port within the laptop,

That said, If the issue occurred after an accident (such as dropping it on the floor, etc.) there could be a additional charges in such cases to get the computer repaired via HP service centers.

Alternatively, You could replace the part on your own, use the HP Parts surfer to identify the part: Click here & order it via the HP Parts store (Click here) or simply Contact HP for setting up a repair service via phone support and they will provide the details of the service center as you cannot take the PC directly to a service center and has to go via an HP phone support

HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get the phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty repair services under the manufacturer's warranty will be free of charge.

Thanks for your help, I don't have my laptop on me so I can't give additional info on it I've tried another charger that I know definitely works - so the problem is definitely inside.

It was just a wear and tear issue I think as there has been no drops to the laptop.

Thanks for the links hopefully should be able to find the right part to be able to sort it now! 🙂
