Pavilion 15-cc553cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!

Some time ago ethernet latch in my Pavilion 15-cc553cl broke (somebody pulled the cable too much).

I glued it back together and now I can insert the ethernet cable back again. Unfortunately, when I pull the cable it easily gets disconnected (perhaps some plastic part holding the rj45 in place broke off and I didn't notice it).

I tried searching for the spare part in HP service manual, but RJ-45 door is only listed in Pavilion 14 manual, there's no such spare part for Pavilion 15.

Am I not seeing something? Or am I supposed to buy the whole down cover with latch included?

The ethernet socket itself is ok (it works perfectly) but the cable is not held in place, sometimes disconnecting when I pull it, so it's more of an inconvenience rather than a serious problem - I don't want to buy ethernet to USB converter just because of that, I'm rather looking for a way to fix the broken latch/buy a new one.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes that port latch is just not offered as a separate part on all models and yours is one where it is not. The little tabs that connect it to the chassis are very hard to fix, as well. It's not a design I like very much but it is what it is.
