Hello,
As I opened my laptop today the left hinge broke and the screen near it cracked. I contacted Hp support about it. They said the damage would not be covered as the hinge comes under accidental damage. The device is just 6 months old. I have never dropped it or caused any other damage. What can i do now?

Going through the forums I have found that this is a very common problem and that many people have had broken hinges with only normal use. It isn't right to consider something as accidental damage when HP knows multiple people have had the same problem with it without any accident. This is more a design problem than an accidental damage. I request HP to help me resolve the issue

Hi@Aditya_Sanwal,
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Apologies for all the inconvenience
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. This sounds like hardware related issue with the hinge assembly and in order to fix this issue, your computer needs to be serviced. As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now.
I would request you to reach out to our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the available service options in order to diagnose the computer physically. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Please feel free to contact us here anytime you need any further assistance. Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution

Hello @Praveenbv, I have already contacted tech support. My issue is with the fact that even though my laptop is just 6 months old, and has never been dropped or hit in any way whatsoever, the damage is still not considered under warranty. How is it an accidental damage even though there has been no accident. The hinges are pretty weak and have broken for numerous other HP users without any accident( you can see the threads on this forum), therefore it is a problem on the part of HP, not "accidental damage".
