Purchased my high end HP Envy x360 Touchscreen only a few years ago. Never been dropped, never abused. Today I went to close it and the left hinge broke, immediately causing a sizable area of the lower left of the screen to shatter. This is criminal for such a high quality HP laptop. The laptop still sorta works but I can no longer reposition the screen (open or close) without risking additional damage to the screen. The Touchscreen feature, however, no longer works at all. After doing some quick Google searches, I was surprised and appalled to see all the similar complaints from other users. And it appears HP is not accepting responsibility for a design defect and is expecting users to pick up the tab for this one. If it would have just been a hinge failure, I could probably live with that. But the fact that it broke the lower left portion of the screen, HP has just lost themselves a loyal and longtime customer. I take very good care of everything I own. I have always handled this laptop with great care. Please don't tell me, HP, that this was caused by anything other than a failure in your design of these hinges.

I was contacted by an HP "case manager", who basically said HP will not do ANYTHING for me relating to this issue due to the expiration of the warranty. Shocking, I know. I had no expectation that they'd do a no-cost repair, but they didn't even throw me a bone and offer me a voucher or discount coupon toward the purchase of a new HP laptop. So thanks to HP's "generosity", they've lost all my future business.
