I was using my laptop in a normal way and closed it, them went to put it in my bag and noticed the hinge had broken and the screen was coming apart slightly in the corner. My laptop is only just over three years old and my three year care package only recently expired in July which is frustrating. It sounds like other people have had this issue, so is it a factory fault that HP should fix? The laptop hasn't been used that much, only a few hours a week for three years.

HP ought to fix it, considering how many people have the exact same problem, but I don't see where they do (well, without charging a small fortune).
At the very least, they ought to give detailed info on how to repair it. But, instead, seems the agents just tell people to bring their computers in for service.

Hi @Josie80,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd like to help!
I understand that this is Hardware issue. But the support here is limited to software troubleshooting. However, since the unit might need repair, I would request you to contact HP Phone support who would have an option to schedule a repair as per the warranty and the issue can be fixed.
For that to happen, we will give you additional instructions/information via Private Message.
Please check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.
If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
