I have a button on my keyboard that opens a browser. Right now it opens Internet Explorer. How can I change it to Microsoft Edge?

@Hussain6 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you would like to change the browser button to an edge browser.

You have to change your browser home page.

  • Here's how to change your home page in the new Microsoft Edge :
    • Open Microsoft Edge, select Settings and more  > Settings .
    • Select Appearance.

    • Turn on Show home button.

    • You can either choose New tab page or select Enter URL for a page that you want to use as your home page.

No, that won't work.

I found an article by HP saying that the browser key opens the default browser. I checked mine and it was Edge. But there was the new Edge and the old one. I had the new one selected, but the old one wasn't installed. I resetted it to default and it showed the old Edge.

Thank you for the update.

In that case, I would suggest you uninstall the edge browser completely and reinstall.

Have a nice day!!

I've uninstalled IE and now it just blinks and does nothing. And the three buttons (wireless, browser and mute) stay lighted up.

Thank you for the update.

Please perform the system file check.

1) Select Start, and in the search box, enter Command Prompt. Press and hold (or right-click) Command Prompt (Desktop app) from the search results and select Run as administrator.

2) Enter DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth (note the spaces before each "/").

3) Enter sfc /scannow (note the space between "sfc" and "/").

If the issue still persists, please perform the system reset.

Have a nice day!!
